Jaipur, 07 November . Brig Punita A Sharma (Retd), Ex-Brig MNS (South Western Command) was conferred the ‘National Florence Nightingale award by President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu on 07 Nov in a function held in Rashtrapati Bhawan .
During the covid pandemic she conducted an educational web series ‘DISHA’ to enhance and empower paramedics battling COVID, an one of a kind initiative benefitting more than 1000 medical & nursing professionals and conducted health awareness campaigns to promote health among troops and families.
Brig Punita A Sharma (Retd) had held appointment of Brig MNS(SWC) prior to her superannuation from service on 31 Dec 2021. She was commissioned in to MNS in the year 1985 after graduating from College of Nursing, AFMC, Pune, and has held various academic and administrative appointments. With over 36 years of experience as a teacher and administrator, she had played key roles in initiating various reforms in Military Nursing Service.
National Florence nightingale award is given as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by nursing professionals in the country. This award is declared on 12th of May every year on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale
