Jaipur, 17 December . In commemoration of Vijay Diwas a solemn ceremony was held at the Asafwala War Memorial, Fazilka on17 December
The ‘Saviours of Fazilka” were paid rich tributes in accordance with Army regulations and protocol befitting this solemn occasion. The event began with laying of wreaths by the Fazilka based army units, civil administration, officials of the Police and BSF and gallant veterans. Lieutenant General JB Chaudhari, General Officer Commanding, ‘Chetak Corps’ and Maj General Vikram Verma, General Officer Commanding ‘Amogh Division’ also laid wreath at the Asafwala war memorial.The Memorial, which stands on the hallowed grounds where the soldiers Killed in Action were cremated, is being managed by the Fazilka based Shaheedon ki Samadhi Committee since inception.
On the occasion, Lieutenant General JB Chaudhari, General Officer Commanding, ‘Chetak Corps’ exhorted all ranks to re-dedicate themselves in the service of the Nation. He also applauded the civil administration and people of Fazilka for honouring the bravehearts and mentioned that such close coordination between ‘Local populace, Civil Administration and Army’ is an example for all to emulate.
